Karachi, Pakistan — April 28, 2025
Crownstone Global has formally launched Agrovia Technologies as a pilot venture under its latest agritech portfolio, combining deep family agribusiness roots with technology expertise to solve real-world farming problems at scale.
Agrovia Technologies aims to be a smart, sustainable, and scalable company that digitally empowers small and midsize farmers worldwide with practical, low-cost tools that address the critical issues on the ground.
Unlike many top-down tech efforts in the agri-sector, Agrovia’s approach is intensely grassroots-focused. The venture is being piloted on Crownstone-owned farms, spread over 100 acres of land, in the provinces of Punjab and Sindh, with direct collaboration from farmers, agronomists, and rural supply chain professionals to ensure usability and relevance.
“As someone with deep family roots in agriculture, this initiative is deeply personal. In a country like Pakistan, where over 30% of the population depends on farming, yields and productivity remain low due to unpredictable pricing, crop diseases, and climate volatility. Agrovia is our answer to those persistent challenges, which is being built by people who understand them firsthand.”, said Mr. Khawaja Mazhar Uddin, CEO & MD of Crownstone Global
The pilot phase will focus on building functional prototypes for solutions, including a multilingual farm management platform, an AI-powered crop disease detection tool, and a live commodity pricing index that delivers real-time market rates for major crops across regional mandis (markets), enabling farmers to make better trading decisions. The idea has already drawn interest from progressive farmers, local agri-traders, and nonprofit partners seeking affordable, tech-enabled solutions for agri-efficiency and data transparency.
In later stages, the company also plans to integrate with different microfinance providers and farm equipment leasing solutions, and invest in farmer education, making Agrovia a complete agritech ecosystem.
Agrovia Technologies will continue to operate as a strategic subsidiary of Crownstone Global, with dedicated teams to be hired for product development, field outreach, and ecosystem partnerships. The learnings from this pilot will help with phased rollouts by 2026.
